Spring Has Arrived at Littleton's Civic Garden Sites
Littleton Country Gardeners · Spring 2026
Hager Trough is a small public garden at the Littleton Common in Littleton, MA, lovingly tended by local volunteers.
Spring is officially in the air in Littleton — and the Littleton Country Gardeners are making sure it shows.
Across all nine of the club's beloved civic garden sites, our dedicated site captains and their teams have been busy refreshing the plantings with the cheerful colors of the season. This spring's signature plant of choice: pansies, paired with complementary fillers to create lush, welcoming displays throughout town.
Pansies are a perfect herald of New England spring — frost-tolerant, vibrant, and impossible to miss. This year, you'll find them brightening each of our civic locations in a variety of rich hues, softened and accented by a selection of seasonal filler plants chosen to complement the unique character of each site.
Where to See the New Plantings
Keep an eye out for fresh spring color at all nine of our civic sites:
Urns at the Town Common, Stevens St — Three signature urns welcoming visitors to Littleton's most visible front door.
Gazebo, Foster St — A beloved landmark blooming anew for spring.
Reed Fountain, Rogers St — The historic 1910 iron watering trough, now framed in seasonal color.
President's Garden, Meetinghouse Rd — The club's flagship showcase planting, in full spring glory.
Shaker Lane Trough, Shaker Lane & Great Rd — A quiet nod to Littleton's agricultural past, refreshed for the new season.
Hager Trough, Rte 119 & Rte 110 — The historic iron trough at the corner of Routes 119 and 110.
Fire Station & Blue Star Memorial, Foster St — Patriotic and vibrant, honoring community and country.
Mannion Place, Great Rd — Welcoming plantings along Littleton's main corridor.
Urns at Veterans' Memorial, Hathaway Park — A tribute in living color to those who served.
A Labor of Love
Each civic site is cared for by a dedicated Captain and a small team of club members who give their time and expertise across four planting rotations each year — spring, summer, fall, and winter. The spring refresh is always one of the most eagerly anticipated transitions, bringing renewed color and life to the community after the long winter months.
"These aren't just flower beds," as we like to say. They are living gifts to the community — and this spring, they are more beautiful than ever.
Want to See Them for Yourself?
