More Than a Garden Club —
A Community
Rooted in Littleton since 1959. Growing ever since.
WHO WE ARE
Littleton Country Gardeners was established in 1959 and federated with the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts in 1960. Today we are 25 members strong — a working club of neighbors who share a passion for gardening, civic beauty, and lifelong learning.
We are proud members of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts (Central North District) and National Garden Clubs, Inc.
Meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday morning of each month, September through May, at the Littleton Fire Station, 20 Foster Street. Doors open at 9:00 am for social time; the meeting begins at 9:30 am. Every gathering includes a speaker or hands-on program — past topics have ranged from hypertufa planters to native plant design to mushroom cultivation.

THIS IS A WORKING CLUB
Membership in Littleton Country Gardeners is an active commitment to the community. Every member is assigned:
A civic beautification site — one of our 13 planted locations around town, refreshed with seasonal plantings four times per year
A standing committee — Garden Therapy, Programs, Horticulture/Friends of the Earth, Library, Civics, or Publicity
A library rotation — members take turns providing weekly fresh floral arrangements at the Reuben Hoar Library
WHAT WE DO
Civic Beautification We plant and maintain 13 garden sites throughout Littleton — from Reed Fountain Park and the Town Common to the Littleton Food Pantry, Senior Center, and Fire Station. Our plantings honor the seasons and the community.
Educational Programs Each monthly meeting features a guest speaker or workshop. Recent programs have covered perennial garden design, wildflower identification, fall bulb planting, garden crafts, and a popular trip to Pine Ridge Farm for a hypertufa planter workshop.
Garden Therapy Our Garden Therapy committee brings regular horticultural programs to residents of Littleton Senior Housing, sharing the joy and healing power of gardening with those who need it most.
Garden Crafts with Kids We partner with Littleton elementary schools to bring hands-on garden crafts and nature education to young students.
Arbor Day Tree Giveaway Every year, the club gifts trees to all Littleton third graders in honor of Arbor Day — planting roots in the next generation of stewards.
Annual Plant Sale Each May at Littleton Common, we host our popular plant sale — a beloved local tradition and a great place to find unusual varieties from fellow gardeners' collections.
Holiday Bazaar The club participates in the Littleton Holiday Bazaar (first Sunday in December), offering handcrafted arrangements and seasonal items.
OUR MISSION
The Littleton Country Gardeners are guided by five core commitments:
Stimulate interest in the knowledge and love of all phases of gardening
Protect and conserve our natural resources
Encourage civic beauty through planting and education
Promote community engagement and friendship through shared green spaces
Inspire the next generation of stewards and nature lovers
MEMBERSHIP
We welcome prospective members who share a love of gardening and a commitment to community. New members are encouraged to attend as guests first — come to a meeting, meet the club, and see if it's the right fit.
